Obituary of Helen Nelson

NELSON, Helen Betty (Lee) Passed away peacefully at Pleasant Meadow Manor, in her 87th year, on July 31st, 2024. Predeceased by her husband Ralph Arthur Nelson (Ozzie). She is survived by her children Lorie Montgomery (Bruce), Gord Nelson (Connie), Reg Nelson (Marlene) and Andrew Nelson (Lisa) and sister Carol MacDonald. Predeceased by sisters Eva Mclean, Doris Snider, Joan West, brother Lorne Lee and grandson Matthew Nelson. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews who knew her as Auntie Helen. She will most dearly be missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren who experienced her love and affection before her illness. To them she was affectionately known as nana. She was the trunk of the family tree that would bend occasionally but never break. Her personality and motherly ways were always appreciated and will be dearly missed. Rest in peace mom. The family would like to thank the staff at Pleasant Meadow Manor who showed nothing but professionalism and compassion during Mom’s final years. Arrangements have been entrusted to CREMATION CARE. A private family service and cremation has taken place as per mom’s wishes. An open house to celebrate the life of Helen with be held on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at the Norwood Legion – Branch 300 (27 King Street, Norwood) from 1:00PM – 4:00PM.
